Welcome to Our Preschool
Curriculum
A child grows at his or her own pace. We recognize and respect their differences. It is expected that among any particular class, there will be a wide range of abilities and readiness. Curriculum is designed to provide many diverse opportunities for learning as your child develops physically, socially, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Play is children's work and it is the way they learn. We provide tools for play with specific objectives in mind.
Art |
Art play is how children explore hands-on creativity, learn to understand marks and symbols, and discover patterns. Art builds small motor coordination and self-exteem, stimulates ingenuity, and stretches the imagination. |
Home Living |
Home living provides opportunities for imaginative play, either alone or with others. Children can iron, cook, set a table, serve food, care for a baby, and dress up for role play. |
Nature |
Through nature materials, children begin to appreciate beauty and become more aware of their surroundings. They enjoy sensory experiences. They begin to associate God with his beautiful world. |
Books |
Books are a gateway to new ideas. They stimulate conversation and curiosity and provide opportunities to increase vocabulary. Children enjoy handling and looking at books and can begin to take responsibility for their care. |
Blocks |
Block play provides opportunities for using large muscles and for working with others. Children learn to use their own ideas to plan, to choose sizes and shapes, and to put things away. |
Puzzles & Manipulatives |
When working with puzzles and manipulatives, children have opportunities to think and reason, to solve problems, make choices and work independently. They develop awareness of shape, size, color, direction, detail, and design. They practice hand-eye coordination and enjoy a sense of achievement in work completed. |
Group Time |
Songs, musical activities, finger plays, poems, stories, and games may be used in group time. The weather and calendar may be discussed. Bible stories and a Bible verse will be presented. The teacher will use this time to talk about the unit for the week. The length of time spent is a group will increase with age and attention span. |
